Brightmore Reserve – A Little Scooters or Trike’s Dream
Last weekend, while dad got a lie in, I took the kids to Brightmore Reserve in Cremorne. I had read that it had a great little trike path and I wanted to check it out myself. It did not disappoint.
Where is Brightmore Reserve
Brightmore Reserve is in Cremorne on Sydney’s lower North Shore.
Brightmore Reserve is opposite Primrose Park (if you know where that is 🙂 ).
The address I got off Google before setting off was 1 – 13 Little Wonga Road, Cremorne. This took me quite a convoluted way.
The Address to Use
When we go back next time I will put Young Street or Wonga Road in as these two meet at the park entrance.
Parking
There is plenty of parking across the road, if you get there early. By the time we left at 11:00 the playground and trike park were pumping.
Brightmore Reserve Features
Brightmore Reserve has a few good aspects to it. There is a small cycle track, a playground and a big patch of grass to play on.
The Cycle Track
This may be small in comparison to the cycle paths available at Wahroonga Golden Jubilee Field or Flying Fox in Mona Vale but it has a lot going for it. Unlike other cycle tracks this is perfect for little kids, toddlers who are still on scooters, little bikes or trikes.
The cycle park has petrol fill up station, pedestrian crossing and places to stop and visit or drive through. Added to that are the fire engine and ambulance which you can ride on.
The Playground
The playground is pretty and functional.
There are swings, a slide, balance surfboard and a miniature see-saw. The playground is fully fenced and bordered by rocks and shrubs.
The big grassy patch
Throughout the reserve there are benches and tables.
There are shady and flat large grassy pieces make for perfect picnic spots. On our last visit we took our morning tea and a picnic blanket and had a “picnic”. My son also insisted we take a ball so that we could play a game of soccer.
The only thing to be aware of is the dogs on the grass. You don’t want your kids standing on dog poo.
Brightmore Reserve Facilities
This is a great park for playground purposes, trike purposes and picnics. It is suitable for little ones and toddlers.
There is a toilet block that has been constructed in the last year.
One of the problems with the playground is that there is no fence around the whole reserve. The fence is just around the playground. While the reserve sits in a ‘basin’ the kids have to run up a slope to get to the road but you would still need to keep an eye on them!
