Cool Bikes and Cars for Kids

Cool Ride on Bikes and Cars for Kids

If your kids are like mine, they look at other kids riding their cars and are green with envy. They would so love one of the electric cars for kids. You’ve seen them, the little jeeps, the ford rangers driving along the beach front or at kids’ parties. My son would be over the moon to have gotten one of these as a toddler.

I was recently approached to look at Kidz Auto and see if it was something that my kids would love. I didn’t have to look beyond the first page to see that my kids would go nuts for one of their cars for kids. For me, safety is paramount so that’s where I went to look at first. I’ll talk about this and some more typical parent issues, like weight and age suitability all within the framework of how I would choose one for my kids.

Whether I would buy one for my children is something I needed a bit more time to look at…. Here are my thoughts on these cars for kids as available now from Kidz Auto.

This is a sponsored post.

I was just asked to look into it so here you and Kidz Auto are all going to find out at the same time what I think about their cars for kids.

Cool Ride on Bikes and Cars for Kids

As I said, my kids would have been beyond excited to get one of these ride on cars. I think even now, at 5 my son would still be stoked to open his birthday present and find a little Jeep. Whether I would get him one I had not thought about.

Can I tell you though, if this is something that you’re thinking about that there is also so many options. So many. I’ll help give you a little bit of guidance on these in this post but you will need to work through the site to decide which one your little one would love the most.

How exciting! I am so excited by the thought of hundreds of little kids opening up cars for their birthdays and Christmas!

So I just gave in and let my son watch the Youtube video, he reckons if I got him the car, I wouldn’t need to drive him anywhere ever again, he would just drive himself there.

How to choose from the  Cars for Kids

I reckon that the best way to work out which of the ride on cars for kids to get you have to:

  1. Look at what type of ride of vehicle you want.
  2. Look at the power that you are happy with.
  3. Other safety features
  4. Check the weight and age restrictions.
  5. From what is left look at the branding and the colour.

My gut is that if I was looking at this for the first time ever, I would probably just look at colour and brand and see if it is suitable. My husband would definitely do it like that!! But, having looked through this a couple of times I think it is practical and beneficial to work through the above process if you’re looking at buying a ride on car.

The cars are divided into cars, “motor bikes” and quad bike types. The cars are divided into ones that have 24v batteries and those with 12v batteries.  There are safety features like the ability to power it with a remote. Each car has different weight and age restrictions, which I will give you a few examples off.

There are so many options that are available. You must go check out Kidz Auto yourself!

1. What type of car do you want? There are different ride on cars for different purposes

The cars come in Jeep, 4 X 4 style cars, Ford Rangers and Chevvies and Ferraris and sedans.

Some of the cars are licensed, like the Ferrari, Audi Q7, Amerok, Maserati and the Ford GT. You must see how cool the Yellow Ferrari is with its gullwing doors.  Then you also get police cars and turbo racers which are pretty cool.

There are also motor cross bikes which have “training wheels” so that there is some support for your little one.

The third type are the Off Roaders, the beach buggies, electric quad bikes and ATVs.

2. Power of the Cars for Kids

Most of the vehicles come in 12v or 24v except for the bikes. This translates to the car going about 5 – 7 kms an hour. The motor cross bikes are 6v batteries so they only go at a speed of 3 kilometers per hour.

3. Safety Features

In most of the cars there are seatbelts but not on the motor bikes.

The other important feature is the remote control so you can take over the control of the vehicle. To switch from self/driver control to the remote is easy – it’s just a flick of a switch. When you are looking at the cars just double check that the one you are looking at does have this feature.

4. Weight and Age Restrictions

All the Ford Rangers can carry a maximum weight of 40kgs so they are suitable for ages 4 through to 8.

The cool police car: Suitable for 3 – 8 Years of Age, with a maximum weight of Up to 30 kg.

The motor cross bikes carry a maximum weight of 25kgs and are suitable for kids aged 3 to 7 years old. While my son would have been fine on one of these at 3, my daughter isn’t as stable so I don’t think I would have been happy with her on one of these at that age.

The bright Pink Ford Ranger car comes with 4, (35W) driving gears, anti-slip tyres and leather seats. It has a key start! MP3 and USB socket. Even the doors, hood and boot work. How cool!!

5. Branding and colour

There are so many different colours and “makes”. You can find something that your child will just love.

The Ford Rangers are available in pink, blue, red, white and black. There are pink jeeps, black ones, green, red . The big Chevvies are black and red

It seems as though the little bikes come in red, green.

The Quad bikes are in blue, the ATVs are in lime green, red and the Beach Buggy comes in camo, red and blue.

Long Lasting?

For the battery charged ride on cars, a fully charged battery should last between 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. How long it last will depend on the road and weight etc. You should be able to charge the battery 100 times before you need to talk to Kidz Auto about a replacement battery.

There is also a  6 month manufacturer warranty. Just note that exposure to sand, dirt and gravel may damage the car’s engine and gearbox and won’t be covered under the manufacturer warrant.

Assembly

Just be aware that these cars don’t come fully assembled. That attracts an additional cost and is only available in Victoria, Tasmania & South Australia. It’s a minimal charge of $35.

This would be one of my concerns. I would hate to buy something like this and then mess it up by putting it together incorrectly. So before you make your final decision, get hold of them and check how much work would go into the actual car you’re looking at!

I’m so interested to hear if you have bought one of the cars for kids, or if you do, how you find it!! Please let me know!
