Mom Night Out: Watching I Feel Pretty at Palace Platinum Central Cinemas

Mom Night Out:

I feel Pretty at Palace Platinum Cinemas

I feel pretty is the funniest movie I’ve watched this year. It was also made really awesome by the fact that I watched it with one of my best friends at Palace Platinum at Central Park Mall. I never do “Mom Night Out” so I’m really glad I made the exception. The whole thing was totally worth the trip across town!!

Not only do you have to go see I Feel Pretty but if you get the chance to do it at Palace Platinum, Central Park Mall, run there, don’t walk. It’s a complete experience.

I Feel Pretty

Amy Schumer is genuinely hilarious but sometimes I’m not on board with her humour. This movie has made me a complete Amy Schumer fan. She is blatantly honest and not afraid to show herself in her natural form.

The Plot

(beware of spoilers)

In I Feel Pretty Amy is Renee. Renee is normal, a normal looking girl with a normal job, with normal friends, but she doesn’t have confidence in who she is. Renee reckons that if she was pretty great things would happen to her. If she was pretty her life would change and become wonderful. One day Renee takes a knock to the head and with that she changes her opinion of herself. From that point on Renee reckons that she is drop-dead gorgeous.

The criticism

I Feel Pretty has garnered some serious criticism because of the message it is sending.

A lot of people have complained about the movie based on the fact that Amy is making a mockery of normal looking girls. I don’t agree with this position.

This movie is not to make fun of us normal people. The humour is in the things that Renee does with her new found confidence. That, coupled with her trying to convince people that she is Renee, makes for pure comedy. Regardless of whether Renee was hot or not these scenes would still be hilarious. I got a stitch twice from laughing.

Amy Schumer has made a career poking fun at the way people place so much emphasis on the way we look. She’s spoken repeatedly about how we are all human and we all have different bodies. I Feel Pretty is packed with reality checks and life lessons on loving ourselves.

I absolutely LOVED I Feel Pretty!!

The movie raises the point that little girls are perfectly happy with the way they look when they are little. They play bellies sticking out and massive grins on their faces. Yet somewhere along the way that gets lost. For me that really resonated because my daughter plays with absolute carefree abandon and its beautiful. I don’t want her to stop loving herself. I will call her beautiful regardless of the way she looks because that is what she is to me.

On that note, I would love to know how Amy Schumer’s mom raised her to feel this way about herself.

Palace Platinum Cinemas

Well, you know you’re in for a treat when you arrive at Central Park Mall, it’s a bit unusual but really stunning inside. Heading up to Level 3 where the theatres are it seems as though you’re going to a normal theatre until you see the Beer Hall. Past the beer hall and into the green velvet lined entrance you find the Palace Platinum Cinemas. When you get to the entrance and are greeted, make sure to hand over any of your additional bags and coats and head over to the bar for a drink. A beer, prosecco or maybe a beer?

After a drink , we moved over to the lounge. The walls are windows out over the Sydney so at night you can sit and watch all the lights twinkle while you sip on your beverage in anticipation of your movie. At I Feel Pretty were treated to antipasto platters!

If you’re not relaxed by the time you enter the movie, the theater itself will relax you no doubt! There are massive recliner chairs, less than 20 so it’s really quite luxurious.

You can find out more information about Palace Platinum Central Park Cinemas here.

We were invited by eOneANZ to watch the movie.

They didn’t ask for a review on I Feel Pretty, it’s just such a great movie that I had to write about it!
