Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie

The Peanuts Movie

The Peanuts Movie is my favourite movie of this generation for kids. I just love it. I think I’ve bought three copies of the dvd to ensure that every grandparent set has it on hand.

If you’re looking for a lovely movie for your kids that is full of good values and morals with excellent graphics this is it. You’ve got to watch Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie.

The Peanuts Movie Plot

In this edition of the Peanuts story the Little Red-haired Girl arrives on the scene. Charlie Brown falls head over heels in love. The problem is Charlie Brown really struggles with his sense of self. The poor guy spends most of the movie trying to prove himself worthy of talking to the Little Red-haired Girl.

Charlie Brown tries so hard to be noticed by the Little Red-haired Girl but he has crippling self-doubt.

In a plot twist Charlie Brown is announced the smartest boy in the school. Suddenly everyone wants to be friends with Charlie Brown.

The Peanuts Movie Positives

I’ve watched the movie a couple of times with my son and daughter and each time I’m impressed by the values that are constantly albeit unconsciously shared.

There is absolutely no bad language in the movie and the way the kids refer to each other is generally polite.

The storyline is simple enough for little ones to follow but keeps you entertained.

What I really like about the movie is that there is no death or darkness in the movie – unlike a lot of the more famous Disney movies. The movie does visit some unhappy emotions such as disappointment and fear but it’s portrayed in a way children can understand and process.

The music and graphics are great and really up to date even though the movie is true to the original characters and drawings.

The Peanuts Movie Failings

I can’t think of one.

The nastiest thing to happen in the movie is Lucy calling Charlie a Blockhead.

There are minor issues such as Charlie Brown embarrassing himself but that’s about it.

Age Suitability

I would recommend this movie for any pre-schoolers. If you’ve got a toddler who will also be watching there is nothing you need to be worried about.
