Passmore Reserve, A popular North Manly Playground

Passmore Reserve Playground, North Manly

Passmore Reserve in North Manly has been around for 17 years and is a favourite of many Northern Beaches mums but it is very well hidden.

If you weren’t told about it or have a husband who plays golf you would probably not know that it exists.

I was looking for a place to hold my son’s birthday party after just having moved to the Northern Beaches and someone suggested Passmore Reserve. The playground is a natural playground with various play areas. It’s completely fenced and far away from the road.

Where is Passmore Reserve

Location and Address

Passmore Reserve is in North Manly.  It’s opposite Mackeller Girls High if you know where that is.

Passmore Reserve is situated within a large area known as District Park which is a large regional sporting and recreational open space. The official address for Passmore Reserve is Campbell Parade, North Manly. It is on the far east end of Campbell Parade.

The playground itself is on the northern side of the Passmore Reserve.

Parking

There is on street parking, plenty of it and its free. You just have to walk or cycle quite a way to get across the playing fields to get to the playground.

Passmore Reseve Playground Features

The playground sits within the reserve which incorporates a number of different areas. The playground and the walking (bike) path are the highlights for families and kids.

The playground

Set in a natural playground setting there are rocks to climb, ravines to traverse and wooden rails to walk on.

There are also a few play areas set off from each other which you have to get through by walking through the bush setting, kids love it.

The playground is made up of your standard playground equipment:

  • swings
  • climbing nets
  • slides
  • cubby houses

The bike path

The path wides around the playing fields and past the playground. There is a branch of the bike path so you can scoot or ride around the fields and into the playground.

The playground equipment is looking a little old which makes sense given it in 17 years old.

May be old but it’s getting upgraded

The Passmore Reserve is due to be upgraded soon which is awesome. New play spaces are going to be introduced and new softfall.

Improvements will also be made to the main entry pthe paved courtyard space and natural play spaces. I’m really excited about these changes.

Passmore Reserve Playground Facilities

Inside the playground

There are plenty of trees providing shade to the playground and there used to be sails which provided shade. The sails have broken down in parts but the playground is predominantly shady.

If you want to make a morning out of it there are bbq/picnic facilities and amenities inside the playground. There is also plenty of seating around the playground.

Outside the playground

Toilets are just outside the playground area but they don’t look good so I’m looking forward to the improvement! There are also disabled toilets.

There are soccer and cricket fields fields but it is not completely enclosed so while it is great for the kids to run around on you must keep an eye on them.

You will never believe it but there is a legal graffiti wall too.

The reserve is connected to neighbouring residential areas by a shared path network so there is plenty of place to walk around. According to the council website the cycle path ultimately links up with the Nolan Reserve.
