On Shore Cafe Brasserie, Dee Why

Breakfasts in Dee Why:

On Shore Cafe Brasserie

After first visiting On Shore, for a take away coffee and finding it to be good, we had to check it out properly for a sit down breakfast.

There are a number of cafes and restaurants along the Strand and this was the first that we tried. We have since been back for lunch and dinner.

Where is On Shore Cafe Brasserie

The address is 16 The Strand, Dee Why Beach and is the pin in both pictures below.

Where to park

As with most of the cafes and restaurants along The Strand your best bet for parking is either:

  • in the council car park off Dee Why Parade or
  • the parking just above the beach playground at the end of Oaks Avenue.

Its an easy level walk (and I am no walker) from either of the parkings suggested.

Food at On Shore Cafe Brasserie

As I said, we’ve eaten there numerous times. For a quick link to their menus, click here. My favourite at On Shore Cafe is their breakfasts!

Adult Food

I always have the french toast which comes with a massive fruit salad, an amazing fruit salad, with huge pieces of fruit. If you’re out by yourself with your little one you could probably share this between you.

My son has the pancakes which are good and my husband has… the standard… egg and bacon roll.

Kids Breakfasts

There isn’t a designated kids menu for breakfast but you can order the extras as a kids meal. I got bacon for the kids to add to what we had ordered.

For the other meals, the kids menu available goes beyond the normal burger, toastie, schnitzel and fish and chips. The kid’s menu includes nachos, dumplings, meatballs with pasta and calamari.

I am a big fan of their coffee. Thankfully their baby chinos are good too! They’re fluffy and served with a marshmallow and hot chocolate powder on top.
great baby chinos on sydneys north shore and northern beaches

Family Friendly

In winter you will find there were tons of local families with little kids and babies in prams.

If you are interesting in visiting On Shore with the kids I would sit up near the bar as the ground is carpeted there and there is a small bookshelf with a few objects of interest.

Otherwise, if it is a good day, sit outside and let them keep their eyes on the beach or playground across the road. You can use it as a treat for good behaviour 🙂

Booking and Paying

If you’re wanting to go on the weekend and you’re travelling a distance to get there or have a party of more than 4 I would phone and make a reservation as you may find it full when you arrive.

A few notes on paying:

  • there is a 10% surcharge on public holidays and Sundays
  • bills won’t be spilt
  • there is a minimum credit card charge of $15.00

Opening Hours

On Shore is open 7 days a week, which is always a win, but on the weekends it does get busy busy!!

The locals seem to love it and great the owner and wait staff by name.

Open from 7:00 am until 9:30 pm it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Playground Close By

You will walk past the playground If  you walk from the parking along Oaks Avenue. Thus you may have to deal with a few tantrums. May use this as a bribe for good behaviour in the restaurant.

When we visited dad had to go off to the playground after breakfast (leaving mom to a quiet coffee) in order to avoid the tantrum on the way to the Cafe.
