3 Marsala Wedding Color Palettes
Every year, Pantone announces their pick for “Color of the Year”. And boom, just like that, it becomes a major trend whether we like it or not! You’ll see the chosen shade invading fashion, home design and of course, weddings. Marsala was the big winner for 2015. I had mixed feelings about this color initially. Burgundy, really? Here’s how Pantone describes it…
The impactful, full-bodied qualities of Marsala make for an elegant, grounded statement color when used on its own or as a strong accent to many other colors. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.
Still not completely sold. But then I started noticing how well it pairs with other colors. It goes beautifully with purples, blues, an assortment of greens, lighter shades of pink, grays and neutrals, making it appropriate for all seasons. And I’ll admit, I’m especially loving Marsala in floral bouquets - the color really pops in contrast to a bride’s white dress. What’s your take on this year’s “it” color?
