Here are Three excellent books for kids, chosen by my kids. Each one is completely different and absolutely brilliant in its own right.

Three Excellent Books

My kids knocked it out the park this week and brought Three EXCELLENT books home from the school library. Each book was brilliant in a different way. And, I would suggest that each book is good for a different age.

I haven’t had an urge to run out and buy my kids books like I did with these three. After I finish writing this I’m heading online to find them! My husband told me to budge this week but these books are just too good to not buy.

The first that came home was absolutely hilarious because I love playing jokes on my children and trying out all sorts of sayings and puns on them. This book played into that completely.

The second book, also one courtesy of my daughter, was a beautiful written book. Short, a hardcover and beautiful.

Given my daughter’s propensity to bring home books we already own I was very surprised by her brilliant choices.

The third book was from my son. I’m amazed because he normally chooses Minecraft Books or books that he (thinks he) can learn something from, like Chess. “Look mom now I’ll always beat you”. He didn’t even read the book I don’t think.

Anyway, his choose may just be the winner of the week. It is EXCEPTIONAL. And it’s a book that parents should be reading to their children because we need to be reminded of the principles in it too.

Three Excellent Kids Books that my kids happened to bring home and I'm really glad they did because each one is individually brilliant, for different reasons.

Three Excellent Books you must read to your kids

These three books are probably suited to kids from birth through to 7 years old. The last of the 3, my favourite, was a bit too advanced for my 4 year old to understand. She couldn’t grasp the bigger picture and I didn’t push it.

The RED book

This is the first of the Three Excellent Books that made its way home this week.

It is so funny that we read it two nights in a row, that never happens! I even made my husband come listen to the story while I read it to the kids.

This is a really short book and good for kids aged 4 and up. I think any younger and you’d really really confuse them!

In this book, the writer tries to convince the readers that the objects in the book are all red.

It sounds simple but the logic is hilarious!

The drawings are the most simple of the three books but it complements the story perfectly.

The RED Book from Beck and Matt Stanton. It's hilarious and the definitely the funny book of the three excellent books for kids.

Isabella’s Garden

I’ve seen this book so so many times but I’ve never picked it up. I think it was the pictures that put me off.

Got to love judging a book by its cover hey.

Well, now that my daughter brought it home I can see how wrong I was!

Isabella’s Garden is beautiful in many ways. I wish I had picked this book up when my kids were babies and read it to them. The rhythm of the book just makes it beautiful all on its own. Then there are the story lines, each line conveys a new piece of information and then there is the whole overarching story about the cycle of seasons.

The first time you read it you understand the story, and that’s what I explained to the kids. I’m not sure my 4 year old or 7 year followed the book at all, I think they were just lying there listening to the words trip over each other through the sentences. Like a dance of words!

But you have to read it more than one, you have to read it again and then explain to them what is happening, to the seeds, with the birds.

Isabella's Garden is beautifully written. The style of the writing, the rhythm and the concepts it conveys are all lovely. This is the most artistic of the three excellent books my kids chose.

Isabella’s Garden is the perfect book to read to the kids before bed because it has a lullaby quality to the writing style.

What do you do with an idea

This is the best of the three excellent books. It is an exceptional conceptual book. I’ve even thought about gifting this book to some of the incredible adults in my life so that they don’t forget the importance of their own ideas and don’t neglect them.

In this story the little boy has an idea, at first he doesn’t want to acknowledge it, he’s scared of what people may think. As the book goes on he begins to accept his idea, to focus on it and give it what it needs to grow.

The idea is drawn as a golden egg that grows and shrinks and then explodes.

When I read this I couldn’t help thinking of the idea I had for this site and how I ignore it and ignored it and then let it grow and how precious it is now that it’s grown.

Read this book if it’s the only one you read of the three. You will be better for it.

What do you do with an idea. I absolutely love this book! Love it so much. This is definitely my favourite of the three excellent books the kids brought home. I've bought it already!

I’m going to go buy this book and keep reading it to the kids every couple of months until they know in their hearts the worth of their thoughts and ideas. I want them to be confident and brave in the way they think and how they can impact everything around them.

Happy reading all!! Xx
