Father's Day in Sydney 2017: Take a trip out to Palm Beach

The Boathouse at Palm Beach

The Boathouse at Palm Beach

Whether you visit The Boat House at Palm Beach with the kids or without it’s a lovely restaurant in a stunning location.

The Boat House Palm Beach is one of my favourite places to take tourists to Sydney. Not only do they get to see the beauty of Sydney’s beaches by experiencing Palm Beach but they get to eat at a great restaurant overlooking Pittwater. I can’t help but take a thousand pictures when I visit because its so pretty both inside and out.

The Boathouse at Palm Beach is one of three, both of the others have great locations too. I’m surprised this is the first review I’ve made of the Boathouse because we have visited hundreds of times.

The Boathouse Palm Beach is as pretty inside as the beautiful views.

Location and Address

Palm Beach is the Northern most beach in Sydney. It at the very top of the Northern Beaches and on a clear day you can see across the sea to the Central Coast.

The Boathouse is on the Western Side of the headland in Governor Phillip Park. The park is just off Barrenjoey Rd, Palm Beach, 2108.

If you’re more interested in hitting the beach then rather head over to the post about Palm Beach. That post will give you all the information you need to make the most of your visit.

Parking

There is metered parking outside along the dirt road entering the park.

Why visit The Boathouse at Palm Beach.

There are three things that make the Boathouse restaurants so successful. The food, the location and the interior decorations.

Where to sit

Palm Beach Boathouse is set half on land, half on a Jetty on Pittwater. There are three different seating areas:

1. Outside the entrance you can sit under the trees. It’s calming (despite the numerous visitors) with the sound of the water, the plants everywhere and the water fountain.

2. Inside the restuarant it is busy and bustling but has big gorgeous wooden windows looking out over the water. There are flowers stacked up in ceramic bowls everywhere you look. And it’s the warmest spot in the autumn or winter.

3. Outside overlooking the water. Here you can watch the boats or take a walk along the Jetty. On a warm and sunny day this is the best place to sit.

The views alone are worth the trip let alone spending time in Palm Beach and eating decent food.

I just love the decor too. There is ceramic bowls of fruit, flowers and plants everywhere. Beyond that, all the decoration is nautical themed and reminds you that you are at the beach. You can now even buy the homewares at a store just down the road.

The food

The Boathouse at Palm Beach has the standard menu so you know that the food will be good.

I’ve eaten at the Boathouse so many times, I can’t even list everything. I do stand by their scones however. Regardless of the time of day I generally order the hamburger and scones off the adult’s menu and share it around with the kids.

The Boathouse at Palm Beach also happens to serve the most amazing babychinos.

The Boathouse at Palm Beach for kids

You can take a pram through the various levels of the Boat House Palm Beach, it is just a little crowded so if you can avoid taking the pram I would.

There are highchairs available.

While there are bathrooms there are not any baby changing facilities.

The only two criticisms I have are that the Boat House is generally a little more epxensive and this particular Boat House can get very very busy even at lunch time on a week day.

There is sandy beach on either side of the restaurant so the kids can play before or after you’ve enjoyed your meal.
