Sabor Dessert Bar in the Hunter Valley

Sabor Dessert Bar

I didn’t even know about Sabor Dessert Bar until I found a brochure for it in the hotel we stayed at.

On the weekend we visited the Hunter Valley it was intermittently pouring with rain so we needed indoor activities. While this isn’t really an activity, it’s a delicious place to visit!

If you’re wanting to do something other than a wine then this is a good alternative. It won’t take up much of your time, maybe an hour at maximum.

You can visit with or without the kids!! Or just pop in for a Take Away.

Sabor in the Hunter

There are at 50 desserts on the menu and even more on display. When we visited there were 40 in the display cabinet that aren’t even on the menu.

From what I understand the menu  is constantly changing.

If you’re interested in pairing your Dessert with alcohol, each dessert is paired with a local wine, port or cider. You are in the Hunter Valley after all!

And if the desserts aren’t enough the view is lovely!

The cafe is raised above the vineyard so you look out over Lamboch’s Vineyard and the Brokenback Mountain Range in the distance.

Where is Sabor Dessert Bar

The Sabor we visited is in the Polkolbin area of the Hunter Valley. It’s off one of the main roads that runs through this area.

There is another Sabor Desert Bar, the original is located in Lovedale. This one that we visited is bigger than the Lovedale venue.

Address

Sabor Dessert Bar is on Lambloch Estate.

The official address is 2342 Broke Road, Pokolbin, NSW 2320.

Parking

As with most of the places you visit in this area, there is plenty of on-site parking.

What we had

Everything on offer is served as a portion in itself, nothing is sliced. Like it should be!!

The kids couldn’t go past ice cream so they had plain ice cream with toppings (sides as per the kids menu). My husband ever true to himself had a decadent Belgian waffle. How boring is that lot!

I struggled to choose between all the desserts on option. As a stay home mum I don’t really get the chance to go out and have fancy puddings. I’m accustomed to half eaten birthday cake or the things I bake myself.

I eventually went with a Black Forrest cake that looked just like a mini version of the one my mom makes. It was so good. But I was so full!

A taste of the menu

Desserts start at $8 and go through to $31.

Some of the amazing things I saw on offer, just in the display cabinet:

  • Pistachio and marscapone cheesecake
  • Chocolate volcano (I really thought my husband would go for this).
  • Portuguese chocolate mousse.
  • Apple and raspberry crumble.
  • Nutella and chocolate banana dome.

And the Kids’ menu:

  • Gelato stack
  • Fruit Dip – strawberries and banana with a Sabor choc pod.
  • Choc waffle

There are other options on the kids menu and special sides to go with your order. We had to get a side of strawberries for our little Miss.
