Moo Gourmet Burgers Manly
In the last weeks of winter the kids and I ventured to Moo Gourmet Burgers in Manly for a late lunch and it was a great experience. The food was amazing, the view beautiful and the service excellent.
My parent experiences of Moo Gourmet Burgers
The last time I had eaten at a Moo Gourmet Burgers was 2 years ago in Bondi, also a stunning location. I distinctly remembered how good the food was. We had to try it again but this time I wanted to try a different location. So I reached out to Moo Gourmet Burgers in Manly to see if we could visit.
Where is Moo Gourmet Burgers Manly
Located in the heart of Manly, Moo Gourmet Burgers Manly can be found at 33 South Steyne, Manly NSW, 2095.
If you were to aim straight for this address you might find parking along the beach, if you’re lucky.
I would rather aim for the council parking lot off Wentworth Street. Wentworth Street parking under coles has plenty of parking and is free for the first 2 hours. Its a short walk from the Wentworth car park to the restaurant. It is manageable with kids, even if you’re carrying one child and a nappy bag like I was.
The Great Location
Moo Gourmet has a knack of finding superb locations and this is no exception. It’s directly opposite from Manly Beach. The restaurant is on the second and third levels so you’re not on the street and you have a better view from higher up.
The main section of Moo Gourmet Manly is on level 2 and is where you order from. On level 2 there is seating both inside and outside. It took the kids a while to decide where they wanted to sit. My son declared that he needs ‘to look at the view while he eats’. Once that was settled on he then spent an inordinate amount of time examining the art on the walls and playing with the small gum ball machine inside. Typical.
Whether you’ve come off the beach and are desperately hungry or you’re in Manly with a pram and a scooter trying to wear the kids out on an overcast day, Moo Gourmet Burgers is a great place to eat.
There is an extensive menu filled with plenty of burger options. You can check our their current menu here. I’m not at all adventurous when it comes to food so I wasn’t up for the duck and bacon burger or the kangaroo burger. I went for the classic cheese burger.
I can’t actually remember having a better burger in Sydney – it is that good. I added french fries and they are also so so so good but the burger was so big I couldn’t get through it and the chips. If you are a vegetarian there are options for you too. The menu includes salads and vegetarian burgers on offer.
Moo Gourmet Burgers Manly – suitability for kids
Moo Gourmet Burgers is geared for kids! You can feel it from the minute you walk up the stairs and see the thousands of hand drawn pictures on the walls. The kids meals are fantastic – for $11 the kids can get a Little Cow meal which includes:
- a burger,
- juice and
Their evil mom however wouldn’t let them have their dessert. They will have to go with dad on the weekend another time to get the full experience. In my defence they did play with the gumball machine which dispenses mints.
It’s not only an excellent price but the food is quality!
As a testament to how much the kids enjoyed their meal was the fact that my son ate the burger even though he could see green herbs in it – that never ever happens. He is such a fussy eater and he absolutely loved it.
My kids both had the beef burger (without cheese because they’re being weird about cheese at the moment, no idea why). Both also had to have milkshakes – strawberry for the boy and chocolate for the girl.
Meeting Kids Needs
What I absolutely loved is that from the moment we sat down my kids were catered to.
- The kids were offered paper and crayons to draw with.
- A high chair was made available.
- Their drinks and food came first and on smart plastic crockery.
The History of Moo Gourmet Burgers
Aside from the food and the view another lovely aspect of Moo Gourmet Burgers in general is its history. I’m a sucker for a good story and this is one of them. The owner’s maternal grandfather opened Australia’s first milk bar in 1932 in Martin Place, Sydney and his paternal grandfather owned a restaurant in 1926 in New Zealand and it was the first place in New Zealand to have an espresso machine.
Restaurant and food are in this family’s blood and it shows from the tributes in the menu to the old photographs on the walls.
Moo Gourmet Burgers Manly is open from 11am to late so pop in whenever the urge for a good burger hits.
There is delivery in the area. If you’re very lucky you may find that you can get your lunch or dinner delivered to you. Go online and check otherwise you can phone through for quick pick-up but you may have to get out of your pjs.
