Best presents for 4 year old girls

Three events gave rise to this post on the best presents for 4 year old girls.

My daughter just turned 4 and received loads of great gifts. And then we had two parties back to back and saw even more great gifts come out. Then, today I saw someone ask for gift ideas for 4 year old girls and it was like a sign that this post needed to be written.

In this post I’ve include some big gifts and some smaller gifts, some gifts you can wrap and some experiences too.

This is such a beautiful age and although they act like little teenagers they can still be so so sweet. Now is a great time to get their imagination out and treat them with something cute, if they’re still able to enjoy cute.

I’m not sure what order to put this in, price wise, size wise so I’ll just go random and divide it into items and experiences.

I hope you find something suitable!

Things you can wrap

1. Thelma the Unicorn ($10)

This is one of my favourite books. It’s also perfect for this age. You can check out the full review here

Best presents for 4 year old girls: Thelma The Unicorn. This is also our favourite book of 2018.

We love books and our little lady has got quite a collection. Some of the good ones she loves are:

  • Room on the broom, Paper Dolls and Princess and the Wizard by Julia Donaldson
  • Josephine Learns to Dance by Jackie French
  • We’re going on a bear hunt.
  • Fancy Nancy Clancy books.

2. Pop Up Olaf or Pirate ($20)

This is SUCH a cool game. I had never heard about it until my daughter got it for her birthday. Her and my son play it for ages and then come up with all these “special” ways to try get Olaf to pop. You can get various options in this range.

3. Gigantic Keyboard Placemat

It’s a long soft mat with big keys. There are different sounds – piano, guitar or even a trumpet. And then there is also pre-recorded songs. We have it and it’s magic.

Ours was from the Australian Geographic Store.

Best presents for 4 year old girls: the gigantic keyboard piano.

4. A dolls house

There are so many gorgeous ones and so many places you can buy them from. Don’t forget the dolls that have to go in and the beds and decor.

5. A picnic set or tea set ($15)

My daughter loves to pack it and unpack it and have little parties. Her’s was a little tin one from Target but you can get more expensive melamine ones too.

6. A Crocodile Creek Puzzle ($25)

These are such pretty puzzles and such good quality too! We love them, mermaids, faeries, ballerinas. Even better is getting one of their double sided puzzles.

Best presents for 4 year old girls: crocodile creek puzzles.

7. Swimming Barbies

My daughter loves barbies. She has for a while. And she loves playing with them in the bath. I’ve found that the mermaid barbies or even the ones in the swimming costumes are great for the bath. They do get a bit gross after a year of being wet for extended periods of time but you definitely get your monies worth!

8. Simple Cards and Board Games

At this age they’re beginning to be interested in card and board games especially if they have an older sibling. Great games include:

  • Uno
  • Snap (princess Uno is a real winner here).
  • Snakes and ladders.

9. Aloka Unicorn LED Sleepy Light USB Night Light with Remote ($60)

My daughter and three of her besties all got these nightlights for each other for their birthdays. It was so cute that they each go to bed at night looking at the same things.

The Aloka Unicorn LED Sleepy Light USB Night Light comes with a Remote and changes colours.

Best presents for 4 year old girls: the unicorn LED nightlight with remote.

10. My Little Pony

I’m not sure where this particular My Little Pony came from but my daughter just loves them. My Little Pony combined with something whose hair you can brush!!

11. Pup in a bag ($40)

A Puccini’s pup in the bag… My daughter loves little bags and loves little animals. Combine little bags with animals and its a perfect combination.

Best presents for 4 year old girls: a Puccini's pup in the bag.

12. Beanie Boos.

My daughter is obsessed with Beanie Boos. Obsessed. The small little keychain ones that she sticks on her school bags, little ones that she carries around and the big ones. By accident I agreed to buying my daughter a Paw Patrol Skye one as soon as she saw it. We looked for a year and eventually found one, it just so happened it was a massive massive one. It was so big it had to be a birthday present.

13. My fairy garden

My daughter got two fairy gardens. She absolutely loves them. There are so many varieties but they come in the type of box pictured below.

14. Styling Head ($24 – $44)

My daughter wishes she got one of these. Maybe next year! Her friend got one for her birthday and there was serious jealousy.4There are a few styling heads available – dolls and animals. Barbie styling heads, LOL dolls styling heads and unicorn styling heads.

Best presents for 4 year old girls - Styling Head.

15. Musical jewellery box

I’m talking about those little wooden boxes that you can pick up from all over the place. They’re generally pastel coloured and when you lift them up the ballerina dances and music plays.

My daughter absolutely loves hers. She sits and watches it or just spends ages packing her treasures. It’s quite interesting to see what a 4 year old deems precious – plastic bracelets, tiny toys and the odd rock or stick. Very sweet.

16. Dress Up Costume

Rapunzel, Elsa or Anna or mermaid. At this age, there are so many occasions to wear dress up dresses to. Even just a grocery shop needs a dress up.

17. Arts and Crafts

There are so many options in thus category, you can just visit your local Target, Kmart, Big W or stationery store.

Any of the following would be great:

  • Paint your own flower pot;
  • DIY bath bomb;
  • Paint your own unicorns and fairies;
  • Charms and necklace kits;
  • Stain-glass painting. (It’s not really glass anymore).
  • Make your own crown.

18. Gorgeous PJs from Seed, Cotton on or Peter Alexander.

19. Magnetic dress up mermaid or dancer from Melissa & Doug.

It has its own little stand and then various pieces that you can add or remove from the little mermaid or dancer.

Best presents for 4 year old girls: the Melissa and Doug magnetic dress up dolls.

Experiences

1. Horse riding.

This was such a great idea and my daughter got so excited. Until she had to get on the horse and then there was a severe change of heart.

2. Tickets to a play or a show.

Preferably with singing and dancing. We’ve been to the following:

  • Monkey Baa’s Josephine Learns to Dance
  • The Wiggles in Concert

3. A visit to Build a Bear

We don’t have one close to us in Sydney but if we did I would definitely take my kids to do this as part of a birthday present. It’s an experience with a keepsake

4. A trip to the hairdresser

Get in touch with your hairdresser and see if they will wash and braid your daughters hair and the cost.

5. A voucher for Smiggle

Smiggle is an Australian stationery shop specifically for kids. The minute you walk into one you feel like you’ve been hit but a bright plastic sweet smelling unicorn bomb. My kids can spend ages walking through smiggle looking at the pens, the notebooks, the lunchboxes, the journals and colouring in kits.

Smiggle is a really is a great place to get your child excited about daycare or school.  We love love their lunchboxes which are double story insulated little carry cases. Both my kids have them and they have survived my 6 year old which is a feat in itself.  You could get the kids something from there or just give them a voucher so they can trawl the rows of things for hours.

I often post pictures of presents I buy or gifts that we give and get on the AllThingsMomSydney Instagram page.
